Saloni Parekh, b. 1994 is a South-Asian visual artist currently pursuing an M.F.A. at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her artistic practice spans across a range of media, including painting, video, and sound. In 2015, Saloni completed her bachelor's degree in Physics (2015) and her B.F.A in painting from Kent State University, Ohio (2020). Born in Gujarat, India, her art explores the intricate aspects of the term 'god,' recognizing its historical, mnemonic, and emotional significance. She delves into the consistencies present in religion while also addressing the inconsistencies that contribute to societal divisions. Parekh’s work has been exhibited across various institutions, including, the Tennessee Valley Arts Museum(2023), Elaine Bailey Augustine Art Gallery at University of Northern Alabama (2024), Fava Gallery in Oberlin-Ohio(2020), and the Emergent exhibition in Cleveland (2019). Notably, her piece 'Ten degrees of Wikipedia' is in Kent State University’s permanent art collection.
